Some good news to share… We have reached a nice number of supporters and we can all be proud of it… 19200 in the moment of writing this post.
Both CNN (thank you Mairi for your interview) and WIRED featured the cause on bold headlines giving the initiative a high public exposure. Let´s keep on gathering supporters and friends, we can do it.
Regarding some aggressive and radical comments here… to all of them… WHY SO SERIOUS? Just share your POV, but as well as we have the right to ask for this cause without being rude with you, you have the right to show some respect and class writing like a normal person. Please, do not overuse the f… word, for God’s sake. And yes, we’re morons, idiots and all that stuff… so what?

i saw this site in the paper, and as huge a joker fan i am, i must say this is one of the most ridiculous idea i have seen from fanboys( and trust me thats a big list)
did ledger portray the character in a fantastic way, yes in no doubt,but to demand the characters removal from not just any future nolan films, but any future batman films is moronic.
who is to say 20 years from now( which if you do the math is about the time a new joker appears in film) a new actor has a chance and brings something new and fantastic to the screen and dare i say it surpasses ledger as the clown prince. you would deny future film fans and batman fans this opportunity. why not only allow one writer to write the character or one artist to draw them, if we used this logic we wouldn’t even have had the multiple versions of then joker
Iconic characters such as the joker are far bigger than anyone actor, and to limit them to a one time performance is not only idiotic but a crime against why we fans love these characters, the ability to show case so many different takes on the character.
You might as well as that they never write a new comic story unless a certain writer/artist does it. Ledger was epic as the Joker, but to ask that no one ever play the role again is an insult to everyone who has before and those who might try in the future. Who knows, there may be a performance in the future that blows this one away. So, why so serious about this?
Personnaly, I think this petition is a good thing but only for the movies made by Christopher Nolan and when is Christian Bale who play in it, because we dont know who want to remake is hown version of The Batman in 15 or 20 years, we dont know, maybe we’re gonna have a surprise at this time

This petition will not work, even if you get 100,000 names, for three resons: 1 the dark knight has made almost one billion$ and those movie people know the public want to see batman and joker go at it again. They will not sacrfice a multi-million doller project just to keep Ledger as the one. Number 2 they can easily get another good actor to play the part like Jonny Depp or Mickey Rouke. And number 3 if you took the joker away from batman, batman would have no more arch enemy, sure there are other batman villians but the joker is the primary one.
Personally, I think this is all a bunch of hogey. Now, I’m one of many who greedily savoured Ledger’s stellar performance in the otherwise not so stellar film, but to bury the character along with the tragic death of a young talent?

Its not like he wrote the script or desiged the set or even put his own makeup on. it’s sad the people are willing to devote so much time and effort to this and not to somethin real.
You know what, Warner Bros. would have to sign something to approve of this. I think when you march yourself up there and demand there be no more Jokers they are just going to slap you. But what I don’t get is why you made the number of idiots who agree with you so low? There was millions of people who saw it world wide. Why not push the number up a couple hundred thousand.

I’m a big fan of Batman and even a bigger fan of The Dark Knight. I also admire much of Ledgers work and I have to say that Heath was a great actor and his performance as The Joker is awesome!!! But The Joker is such a good character that the chance to play him should never be taken away…even if it’s not as good as Ledgers.
Please give someone else a chance to surprise us even if Heath remains in our memories and hearts.
I love all interpretations of the Joker but I have got to say that Heath Ledger is my favorite. I can see how some people think this petition is like a beyond stupid idea and they think it “won’t work” and it might not. But I think we should all respect Heath and leave the Joker character alone. It was his last big and fantastic role in a movie. But yeah then again, if you get rid of Joker’s character. Batman doesn’t really have that “arch enemy” anymore. They are good and bad points to each side of the argument. But I still think Heath is the Joker and always will be!!!
