Today we started our daily routine like any other day. Reading headlines, checking emails, facebook messages and twitter updates. And suddenly something happened. Many messages with sort of the same subject arrived…
In an interview at the latest issue of Empire Magazine, Director Christopher Nolan said that he won’t bring back The Joker in Batman 3 or in any installment of the franchise while he’s in charge.
“No,” he said when asked if he’d revisit the character, played famously by the late Heath Ledger in Nolan’s “Batman” films. Asked to elaborate on his reasons, Nolan refused: “I just don’t feel comfortable about it.”
It’s good to know that Nolan is choosing not to make the crassest decision of all-time. Besides, who could you recast? Heath Ledger’s Joker is a singular performance, and while it can be impersonated, it can never be replicated.
We really don’t know if this idea we had more than a year ago is related or not with this decision taken by Nolan, but we’re glad to know this. And of course, very very grateful with all the people that supported this crusade. Gotta say it again… The Ultimate Joker has been shown and deserves this homage.

Warner Brothers Inc.
To whom it may concern,
We are three big fans of your Batman movies. Therefore, we are writing to you because we believe Heath Ledger has been the best joker ever, and he deserves more than a tribute.
That’s why we created www.theultimatejoker.com, the website where we asked people to join our cause and for the joker to be put to rest and never again be used in any other Batman sequel.
We think this action would be the best way to honor Heath Ledger and immortalize his portrayal of this incredible villain.
We are not asking much. There have been already two movies with the joker character. Do we need any more? We would like to know if there’s any possibility you could consider this petition and join us in celebrating this ¨Once in a Lifetime¨ performance.
We are writing on behalf of more than 50,000 people that have joined our cause through our website www.theultimatejoker.com
Looking forward to your answer,
Natalia, Fernando & Nicolas (and 53,024 supporters from all over the world)
